Specific Selection Criteria

Intending applicants should first read the following statement by the Gallery Director:-

“We at the Gallery often have a conversation about where we are and how we might improve. These are ongoing discussions, and there are no quick and easy answers.

Currently, we see ourselves as very well regarded in the Region and well beyond. We have many loyal return visitors, and by far most of our first time visitors have been told by others ‘you must see the Wood Works Gallery.’

We are beginning to wonder if this indicates that we are regarded primarily as a sort of museum, a place to see wonderful works in wood and fine art, rather than purchase something fine and well considered, and of lasting value.

How do we better serve our makers and artists by transforming that profound appreciation of the Gallery to an active commitment to purchase works of value?

We often have these conversations amongst the staff, and they eventually guide us to new directions. So please give this some thought, and respond with a few paragraphs that might add to our ‘conversation’. This is not an exam, or dissertation. Relax.”

Director
