Philip Gould

Philip Gould began furniture making with the aspiration of exposing contemporary furniture design to the Australian lifestyle. Philip creates 'one off pieces, commissioned work and limited production pieces.

He graduated from the Sturt School for Wood in 2003 and worked under David Herring until December 2005, after which he branched out on his own. His work can be found in homes throughout Australia and overseas. He says 'Traditional techniques can still be used when a balance is found between modern machines and my strong emphasis on hand skills'

There is great attention to detail, and a distinct understanding of design, form and function in his pieces. In February 2005, Philip won first prize in the Milton Show Furniture Section.
